A Unique Welsh Welcome – Celebrating Our Welsh Heritage at The Imperial

Traditional hospitality and a warm Welsh welcome have always been at the heart of our Llandudno hotel’s ethos, as well as an eagerness to share our love for our beautiful location here in North Wales.

At our Llandudno hotel when you’re on your short break you’ll hear Welsh being spoken and see Wales being celebrated in all guises as a way of welcoming new and returning guests to our beautiful country.

We are proud of our Welsh heritage and do what we can to support and celebrate national holidays and dates, Welsh producers and the local community, sometimes in seemingly small but wonderfully significant ways.

Celebrating Welsh produce at our North Wales Hotel

It’s the warm welcome that keeps guests coming back year after year, making our hotel a favourite place to stay in Llandudno, but it’s also our dedication to supporting Welsh producers that makes us stand out. From the bar to the breakfast table, you’ll find celebrated Welsh produce and craft offerings.

On our Llandudno hotel Afternoon Tea menu, you’ll find Bara Brith, a traditional Welsh tea bread, perfectly paired with Welsh Brew Tea.

Our breakfast is well known and loved by all who get to experience it; fuelling you for the day ahead whether that’s exploring the local area, hiking in the mountains or biking the trails, and when it comes to the ‘Full Breakfast,’ you’ll be delighted to learn that the sausages, bacon and eggs are all locally sourced. As is our yoghurt for guests looking for a lighter start to the day.

Whilst at the bar, you can discover a range of tipples that are soon to become new favourites; from Great Orme Gin, Foragers Gin, Pendryn whiskey and Snowdon Craft beer, to the Gwynt Y Ddraig, a traditional farmhouse cider.

And last but by no means least, when it comes to our restaurant menus, we always try to showcase unique local cheeses, Welsh lamb and beef, fresh fish and seafood. All with a long-established reputation for distinctiveness, quality and taste. Our famous Welsh lamb and beef have a unique heritage, character and reputation which has been recognised by the European Commission (EC), awarding them the coveted status of Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) which puts them on a par with other excellent regional European products like Parma ham from Italy.

The local community

We also support local charities that are important to our team and the wider local community of Llandudno and North Wales, hosting fundraising events when we can also, for Welsh charities such as Ty Gobaith, the local children’s hospice, St David’s Hospice in Llandudno and the Wales Air Ambulance.

Marking special occasions at our Llandudno Hotel

From St Davids to St Dwynwen’s Day, Welsh National holidays are always a special time for us, allowing us to at our Llandudno hotel to mark the season with small meaningful touches.

On St Dwynwen’s Day (our Welsh Valentine’s Day), people will give cards of love to one another, and couples away on a romantic break are gifted with locally made chocolates. Whilst displays of daffodils on St David’s Day are amongst many acts of Welshness that you will see, including parades, concerts and eisteddfodau (festivals of music, language and culture).

During the summer children visiting the hotel are treated to local Welsh Ice Cream from Mario’s – Italian heritage that comes with a Welsh heart, which is always a big hit with our guests. These are small but meaningful gestures that mean a lot to and are remembered by our guests.
