Located in an historic disused slate cavern, Bounce Below is the world’s first subterranean playground with giant trampolines, walkways, slides and tunnels mostly made from netting for you to jump around in.
Set within two vast chambers, which when combined are twice the size of St Paul’s Cathedral, Bounce Below is an underground playground guaranteeing fun for all the family and brings out the child in everyone. The minimum age to participate in Bounce Below is 7 years old and as it’s underground the activity is open whatever the weather and lasts approx 1 hour.

Bounce Below, the world’s first subterranean playground opened in 2014 to massive fan fair and great reviews, and having recently undergone a massive refurbishment programme at a cost of £¾ million, two of our receptionists, Alba Haro and Tara Limacher, jumped at the chance to test it out.
Bounce Below, along with Zip World Titan and Zip World Caverns, is based at Llechwedd Slate Quarry in Blaenau Ffestiniog, a 45 minute journey from The Imperial through the stunning North Wales countryside.
Situated in an historic disused slate cavern, this thrill seeking attraction is made up of giant trampolines, walkways, slides and tunnels all made from netting, with the refurbishment adding four new industrial slides the height of two double decker buses and six new levels of bouncing fun. And to add to that already awesome experience, the cavern is also lit with a technicoloured light display illuminating it with vibrant colours to show off the remains of the Victorian mine.
On arrival you’re fitted out with a safety helmet and if you have long hair, you’re provided with a hairnet before receiving an overview of the attraction, along with procedures that need to be followed. You then enter a network of enormous caverns hidden underground for the start of your adrenalin-packed adventure.
If you find the thought of this a bit daunting trust us it won’t last as Alba confirmed; “as we went underground I admit to being slightly apprehensive but soon you’re bouncing around on what feels like clouds in the air so it rapidly becomes really good fun.”
Both agreed their experience was 100% fun with Tara describing the attraction as “a giant sized adventure playground for adults that allows you to play, slide, roll, jump and bounce from net to net in a huge cavern”. But Bounce Below isn’t just for adults as children over the age of 7 are allowed, plus there’s Junior Bounce Below for children aged 3 to 6, so this is very much an attraction that appeals to every one of all ages.
Their highlights were the new slides which have made the whole experience much more interactive, smaller caverns with suspended nets allowing you to explore, as well as the spiral exit.
Clothing Essentials
You need to wear comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty and their advice is to make sure it has a secure pocket to hold your phone or camera as taking pictures is a must. They also advise to make a day of it so you can also experience Titan and Caverns – just make sure you speak with one of our receptionists to arrange a packed lunch to take with you.
To sum it up they both said it was absolutely brilliant and highly recommend it, and at £25 per person they felt it was very reasonable if you’re looking for something incomparable to do while holidaying at The Imperial.
