2. North Wales adventures

If you’re looking for places to stay in North Wales that are perfectly positioned for adventures on the coast and in the mountains, our hotel in Llandudno is just the place.

North Wales is a hub of adventure, whatever kind you love to pursue. From hikes and rambles to walks and wanders, road cycling to mountain biking, sea swims or lake dips.

Climb the ever-popular Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) without the summer crowds, or pick a less trodden nearby peak like Drum (770m) in the north of Eryri National Park in the Carneddau range.

Stay close and walk from our seafront hotel up The Great Orme (207m) or ‘bag the peak’ of Conwy Mountain (244m).

If for you your short break is about the seaside, take to the breathtaking Wales Coast Path that crosses right in front of our hotel, set out to hike a section of the Anglesey Coast Path or explore the Llyn Peninsula and find secret swim spots that will have you believe you’re somewhere in the Mediterranean.

3. Historic castles and towns

From the doorstep of our Llandudno hotel there’s an abundance of wonderful places to visit; from small charming villages to sprawling bustling towns, historic castles and plenty of local stories to uncover.

For unforgettable North Wales views, visit the castles of Conwy, Caernarfon, Beaumaris and Harlech. These impressive coastal fortresses are worth a visit year-round but in spring they have an extra special glimmer, especially when they’re set against blue skies and rolling green backdrops, the far-reaching views from these imposing medieval strongholds make for a breathtaking sunset postcard.

Considered ‘one of the most magnificent medieval fortresses in Europe’, Conwy Castle is just a short 15-minute drive from our Llandudno hotel. Walk along the castle’s walls and into the towers for spectacular panoramic views of the spring landscape and North Wales coastline.

Or perhaps for you, enchanting towns like Betws-y-Coed or the fascinating Portmeirion, are a reason to visit North Wales, all particularly beautiful when cloaked in spring blossoms.

Betws y Coed is a favourite among visitors, surrounded by the Gwydir Forest, there are trails and paths along rocky rivers and beautiful waterfalls, making it one of the most picturesque villages in Wales.

And then there’s the incredible town of Portmeirion. A popular tourist attraction for its architectural heritage, the beautiful coastal setting and surprisingly sub-tropical gardens.

4. Wildlife spotting

Spot dolphins, seals and puffins on our wild Welsh coastlines. Venture to Puffin Island and the rocky sea cliffs of South Stack Nature Reserve on Anglesey. A protected, significant breeding ground for Guillemots, Razorbills and Puffins throughout the spring. Here you can spot rare Choughs, crows with red beaks and legs.

Lookout for dolphins on the north coast of Anglesey too, near Cemaes, or head out along the Llŷn Peninsula, around Bull Bay, known for its dolphin sightings.

Seals can also be captured along the coast, near our Llandudno hotel, make your way to Angel Bay on the Little Orme, a 40-minute walk from town, where you can usually see the local grey seals sunning themselves on rocks or swimming in the waves. The best time to spot them is at low tide!

Back on the land and all over the hillsides, you’ll see the joyous sight of newborn lambs frolicking in the fields wherever you venture around North Wales in spring, their bleats becoming part of spring’s soundtrack, alongside the birds and bees.
