Explore Bodnant Garden

Out of season but no less beautiful, experience the National Trust’s world famous Bodnant Garden in winter.

You can even set out to complete Bodnant’s Winter Garden trail, guiding you along a gentle circular walk. Short but sweet, this walk takes you through 250 years of horticultural history at Bodnant Garden and is suitable for all the family to enjoy. Then, when it’s time to warm up, head into the Pavilion or Magnolia tearoom, serving hot and cold meals daily.

Sample culinary Welsh delights

If winter for you is about nourishing the body and soul with delicious warming food, you can’t go wrong after a chilly walk on the beach or a wander around Llandudno’s shops, galleries and boutiques, to sit down for a dining experience at our hotel restaurant.

What better way to spend cold winter evenings during your break than to look forward to unforgettable dinners at Chantrey’s, our award-winning hotel restaurant, where you can expect nothing less than excellent service and modern cuisine inspired by the classics and a menu that honours seasonal Welsh produce and fine market-fresh ingredients.

Perhaps you’d like to get ready for dinner and come down to the hotel bar early for a relaxed aperitif. We serve locally brewed Great Orme Brewery beers, or if a G&T is your drink, try gin from Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park.

If it’s a laid-back morning coffee and time to read the paper you’re seeking during your winter break, head to The Terrace, but if a little indulgence is in order, book an Afternoon Tea and while away the time over a classic. Sample our delicious freshly baked scones (not forgetting the jam and cream), savoury finger sandwiches and homemade sweet treats, perfectly paired with a pot of tea, coffee, or to make it a real celebration, a chilled glass of Champagne.

Take a whisky distillery tour

When it’s cold outside, find fun things to do in Llandudno. Wales has some great craft breweries and a growing artisan distillery scene, showcasing some fine whisky, and plenty of gin too. So, this winter, book a distillery tour.

Within walking distance of your North Wales hotel, the Penderyn Distillery in Llandudno is just half a mile from our door, making it an easy choice when it comes to planning things to do during your winter break, especially if you’re a connoisseur of single malt.

Enjoy their hour-long Distillery Tour and look around their exhibition area, including their unique and ‘innovative single copper pot still.’ Find out the history of Penderyn, and how their award-winning whisky is made, then step into the Tasting Bar after for a couple of samples.

Discover the Llandudno Museum & Art Gallery

For anyone who enjoys history and heritage, the wonderful collections at the Llandudno Museum and Art Gallery tell the story of Llandudno over 340 million years. The museum holds more than 9,000 artefacts across 5 areas; natural history and geology, local decorative and fine art, social history, and military history.

The museum, founded by Francis Edouard Chardon, bequeathed his home, Rapallo House as well as his collection fine arts and artefacts to Llandudno in 1925 ‘for the enjoyment of the people’.
